DEED, Nov 30: The Nyishi Elite Society(NES) Keyi Panyor District unit, in collaboration with the District Administration, organized a Wildlife Protection and Preservation Awareness Program today at the Deed General Ground.
The event aimed to foster environmental responsibility and highlight the significance of wildlife conservation in the region.
A key focus of the program was the “Air Gun Surrender Abhiyan” which encourages local communities to surrender air guns as a measure to prevent the hunting of wildlife. This initiative underscores the community's vital role in safeguarding the natural ecosystem.
The event featured an address by Tajum Yomcha, a wildlife scientist from the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, who emphasized the critical importance of maintaining ecosystems, protecting wildlife, and advocating for environmental conservation.
The turnout included a diverse group of village leaders, such as Head Gaon Buras, Goan Buras, members of village-Based Organizations, the Yachuli Constituency Employees Forum [YCEF] executive members, representatives from the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), ZPM both the ) Pistana and Yachuli attended the program and also collectively they made a commitment to prevent hunting and to protect wildlife in their areas.
