BOMDILA, Oct 26: In a resolute commitment to eliminate Tuberculosis from the West Kameng District by 2025, a pivotal gathering took place at the TB Forum Meet 2023, held at the DC's Conference Hall in Bomdila today. The forum brought together stakeholders, community leaders, and healthcare experts to tackle the formidable challenge of eradicating TB.
Under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner West Kameng, Akriti Sagar, the forum served as a platform for addressing the critical mission of eliminating TB. At its core, the strategy revolved around fostering community involvement and building harmonious collaborations with district stakeholders.
Dr. R.D. Thongchi, the District Medical Officer (DMO), set the tone by welcoming attendees, emphasizing unity and collective effort in the fight against TB.
Dr. Ngawang Drema, the District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO), outlined the vision and objectives of the forum. She underscored the pivotal roles of policymakers and stakeholders in ensuring the delivery of effective TB services. The strategic approach was meticulously designed around four pillars: Detect, Treat, Prevent, and Build (DTPB).
Further, Ayushman Bhava Health and Wellness Center (AB-HWC), Bichom, was felicitated for its exceptional performance during the 21-day campaign (ACF). This recognition celebrated their remarkable contributions to the TB screening campaign, a crucial component of the broader TB elimination initiative.
The inspirational narrative of a TB champion further enriched the forum. His personal testimony shed light on his journey as a TB survivor, offering hope and valuable insights into the challenges he overcame.
The session began with the District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO) presenting a comprehensive overview of the current TB scenario in the district. The DTO not only highlighted the array of schemes available for TB patients and their supporters but also emphasized the significant impact of the Ni-Kshay Mitra campaign, providing essential nutritional support to TB patients. The central mission of the forum was to bridge the gap between the TB-affected community, the healthcare system, and other stakeholders, forging a united front in the pursuit of TB elimination.
Highlighting the "TB Mukt Panchayat," she further urged the participation of district Panchayat leaders at the grassroots level.
DC Sagar interacted with the participants, stating that the District Administration will provide full support to the DTO and her team to eradicate TB from the District within the given time frame.
