Tawang, Sep 24: The Registering Officer of the Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB), Tawang, Phurpa Tsering, today handed over a cheque amounting to Rs. 2,10,000 (Rupees Two Lakhs Ten Thousand) as natural death and funeral assistance to Singha Prasad Sharma, the nominee of late Binu Sharma, a registered labourer under the APB&OCWWB. The cheque handover took place in the presence of Pema Wangdi, Vice President of the North East BRO Labourers Union, and Tenzin Monpa, a public leader.
Previously, a total of Rs. 30,55,000 (Rupees Thirty Lakhs Fifty-Five Thousand) had been disbursed through direct benefit transfers(DBT) to beneficiaries and nominees of registered BOC workers. These benefits included normal death benefit, funeral assistance, accidental death benefit, disability pension, education assistance, maternity, and medical benefits.
Pema Wangdi expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Minister of Labour & Employment Nyato Dukam, APB&OCWWB Chairman Rolen Dagam, and Secretary APB&OCWWB for providing these essential benefits to workers who operate in challenging climatic and geographical conditions. He also encouraged any unregistered workers to enroll with the APB&OCWWB to access the various welfare schemes offered by the government. Wangdi further thanked the board for distributing kitchen sets and blankets to all registered workers in the district.
