HYDERABAD, Jun 28: Agriculture and Fishery Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu, who is on a weeklong tour to various cities visiting different central institutions, sought support including technological interventions to boost agro-economy of his hill state.
During an interaction with the National Fishery Development Board at Hyderabad today the minister sought support to uplift the fishery sector especially through Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and various other initiatives. Dr. BK Behera, chief executive of NFDB, that coordinates most of the fishery development programmes in the country, assured all assistances including technical to Arunachal Pradesh. 
The NFDB officials assured to cooperate with the state government and guide in implementation of various schemes and also train the educated and progressive farmers to help them gainfully take up fish farming. Technical issues related to various projects were thoroughly discussed and mutually agreed to boost the blue revolution in the frontier state. 
The NDFD is an institution responsible for vetting various fishery related government schemes from all over the country.
During a day-long programme at the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA) at Bhubaneswar on Thursday the minister visited farm facilities and departments to have first-hand information about scientific ways of promoting freshwater fishes.
The objective of the visit was to explore opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange in fresh water aquaculture between Arunachal Pradesh and ICAR-CIFA for development of fresh-water aquaculture in the state. 
Dr PK Sahoo, Director, ICAR-CIFA assured for extending all technological support in harnessing the targets of government of Arunachal Pradesh through aquaculture development programmes. He also suggested a brainstorming session to develop a roadmap for aquaculture development of the state.
During an interactive session with various heads of departments, the Minister emphasized on providing suitable sustainable technologies for fisheries and aquaculture productions to the farming community and assured creation of model fish village involving committed progressive farmers of Arunachal Pradesh. Wangsu also assured support of the state government in achieving mandated targets of the CIFA in his state.
“ICAR-CIFA may like to provide technologies on latest aquaculture and region/terrain specific technologies to the farming communities, and help create a pool of progressive fish farmers in the state”, he observed while seeking close cooperation with the CIFA to revolutionize fish promotion in Arunachal Pradesh.
Sri Hage Tari, Secretary, Fisheries who also interacted with the officials suggested for dissemination of suitable technologies for improving aquaculture productivity in different climatic regions of Arunachal Pradesh, especially consultancy on fish disease management, self sustained aquaculture for export promotion etc.
Director of CIFA assured to assist the state government in all possible ways and provide specialized training to the farmers of Arunachal Pradesh for self sustained economy in fishery sector. Earlier Dr. PK Sahoo made a detail presentation about researches and extension programmes conducted by his institution for promotion of fish cultivation through scientific methods.
