JAIRAMPUR, Jan 21: Gabriel D. Wangsu, Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Fisheries, Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs and Food & Civil Supply, conducted an extensive review of agricultural operations during his visit to the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Farm Science Centre) in Jairampur, Changlang District on Monday last.
The Minister held detailed discussions with Senior officials including the Senior Scientist & Head of KVK Jairampur, along with District Officers of Horticulture, Agriculture, Fisheries Development and Veterinary services. During the meeting, department heads presented their achievements and operational processes while highlighting various challenges, particularly regarding funding constraints and workforce shortages.
Responding to the concerns raised, Minister Wangsu assured his full support in addressing these challenges. "Submit actionable proposals, and I will ensure they receive proper attention," he stated. The Minister emphasized the importance of integrated farming approaches and climate-resilient agricultural practices in light of global warming concerns.
Highlighting the region's potential, Wangsu noted, "Jairampur's favorable environmental conditions and land resources present exceptional farming opportunities." He particularly emphasized the significance of piggery in the region's economic growth and stressed the need for enhanced fodder cultivation.
The Minister's itinerary included visits to the Center of Excellence and High Tech Nursery of the Horticulture Department, as well as the Pig breeding farm in Jairampur.
Later in the day, Wangsu joined Chief Minister Pema Khandu at the Pangsau Pass International Festival, where he served as the Guest of Honor. Addressing the international gathering, he emphasised the importance of global unity and extended his warm wishes to participants from various countries.
