Itanagar, June 29: Health & Family Welfare Minister, Biyuram Wahge and Dr. Mohesh Chai, Advisor to Minister Health, today inspected the site earmarked for the establishment of State Cancer Institute at Midpu, near here. The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 217.19 crore for this project under PM-DeVINE scheme which is 100% centrally sponsored.
The Health Minister while highlighting the importance of the project appealed everyone to come forward and support the initiative which will immensely benefit the people who otherwise are travelling to far off places and facing a lot of inconveniences. Upon completion, this institute will be a comprehensive Cancer Treatment Centre with all the modern facilities and will be helpful for the people of Arunachal Pradesh given the high incidence of cancer in the state compared to its population size.
The project will be given top priority and will be completed as per the schedule informed the Minister.
The civil work of the project will be executed by APPWD, CDA Itanagar. The e-tendering of the project to award the work will be carried out soon and is under process.
