Itanagar, Mar 16: The 20th Tadar Tang State Level Football Tournament (SLFT) delivered a thrilling start today as high-octane matches unfolded across Zones 1, 2, and 3, setting the stage for an exciting tournament. The competitive spirit was palpable on the field and in the stands, and the momentum is set to continue with an electrifying schedule for tomorrow – which also marks the debut of Zone 4 in the Zonal Round.
In Zone 1 at Namsai, the action began with a captivating clash between Tirap and Changlang. Tirap initially took the lead through Dalai Wangpan’s goal in the 11th minute, but Changlang turned the game around when Dorjee Tsewang equalized in the 44th minute and then sealed a 2-1 victory with Limtu Jugli’s decisive goal in the 90th minute. The excitement carried on as Namsai edged out Anjaw 1-0 late in the contest, courtesy of Joynath Mili’s 85th-minute strike. The final match in Zone 1 saw Lohit overpower Dibang Valley with a commanding 3-1 win. Lohit’s Gaurav Pomu Kirat opened the scoring in the 8th minute, followed by goals from Sosel Tayang in the 28th minute and Beron Karap in the 47th minute, while Nunumi Mihu’s goal in the 87th minute reduced the deficit for Dibang Valley.
Over in Zone 2 at Nari, Lower Siang, Lower Siang emerged victorious in a tightly fought encounter against Lepa Rada, winning 1-0 after Ito Bomjen scored in the 29th minute. The drama continued when West Siang defeated Upper Siang 2-0, with Kenya Doji finding the net in the 11th minute and an own goal by Upper Siang – credited to Totem Dangking – in the 34th minute proving to be the difference. In another engaging match, Siang displayed their prowess by thrashing East Siang 3-0, as Neymar Pajing scored a remarkable hat-trick with goals in the 17th, 25th, and 51st minutes.
Zone 3, held at Daporijo in Upper Subansiri, witnessed Keyi Panyor secure a solid 2-0 win over Kra Daadi, with Kon Tolu scoring twice – once in the 6th minute and again in the 43rd minute. Lower Subansiri also put on a dominant performance, defeating APPSCB 4-0. Their goals came from a penalty by Tapi Hakhe in the 17th minute, a brace from Kago Duyu in the 37th and 90+5 minutes, and an additional strike by Landi Milo in the 38th minute. In a closely contested encounter, Upper Subansiri and Kamle played out a thrilling 2-2 draw. Upper Subansiri’s goals were scored by Tatu Riamuk Cherom in the 80th minute and Phungpha Pansa in the 90+5 minute, while Kamle’s equalizers were netted by Thotngayung Hungyo in the 45+3 minute and Thotreimung MP in the 78th minute.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, Monday, March 17, 2025, the tournament promises even more riveting football action.  
In Zone 1 at Namsai, the day will kick off with a match between Changlang and Namsai at 8:00 AM, followed by Anjaw facing Lohit at 11:30 AM, and concluding with Dibang Valley clashing with Lower Dibang Valley at 3:00 PM. In Zone 2 at Nari, Lower Siang, the excitement continues as West Siang takes on ShiYomi at 8:30 AM, East Siang faces Upper Siang at 12:00 PM, and Siang contests against Lower Siang at 3:00 PM. Meanwhile, in Zone 3 at Daporijo, Upper Subansiri, APPSCB will compete against Kurung Kumey at 9:00 AM, Upper Subansiri will battle Lower Subansiri at 12:00 PM, and Kamle will go head-to-head with Kra Daadi at 3:00 PM. Adding to the excitement, Zone 4 debuts in the Zonal Round at Tawang, where East Kameng will meet Bichom at 8:30 AM, Pakke Kessang will face West Kameng at 12:00 PM, and Capital Complex will host Tawang at 3:30 PM.
The Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) is elated as the tournament unfolds, with today’s results setting a competitive tone and tomorrow’s fixtures promising more action and surprises.
