ITANAGAR, Nov 20: A two-day training programme on Homestay with the theme 'Destination Management through Upskilling and Responsible Practices' was conducted in Bana, East Kameng District on November 17 and 18 last by the Department of Tourism. The main agenda behind the training programme was to promote rural areas as rural tourist destinations and make the residents of the village self sufficient by employing themselves in tourism sector. Trainees from Singchung, Bhalukpong and Tippi also participated in the programme.
Resource persons of the days were trainers from State Food Craft Institute Itanagar, Homestay Operators from Shergaon, Rupa and proprietor of Yongam Tours & Travels,Itanagar. The training programme was an enriching and enlightening experience that gave them knowledge and exposure on tourism and how it has a vast scope to uplift and broaden the mindsets of not just individuals but also of the communities as a whole.
The event ended with the distribution of certificates to the participants and vote of thanks in the presence of Deputy Director Tourism, Bengia Manna Sonam, ZPM Bana, DTO East Kameng District and other officials.
