Itanagar, Aug 6: The Flying Squad team of the District Tobacco Control Cell, ICR conducted a surprise checking drive and raided all shops near educational institutions at Lekhi under the provision of COTPA section 6a & 6b.
A team consisting of CO Naharlagun, Nani Mamung, Police Team of Nirjuli and District consultant and Social work mobiliser( DTCC ), ICR successfully seized a huge amount of cigarettes and other tobacco products along with alcohol sold illegally from different shops situated near 100 m radius of educational institutions.
All the shop owners violating COTPA Section 6 (a)&(b) were challaned and warned from further selling of said products. At the end of the surprise checking, all the seized cigarettes, other tobacco products  and alcohol were burnt and disposed near Dikrong river, Lekhi.
