NAHARLAGUN, Mar 11: In a significant crackdown on theft and burglary, Naharlagun Police arrested three burglars from different locations for their involvement in multiple criminal cases across the capital region.
The arrests were made under the command of Inspector K. Dev, Officer-in-Charge of Naharlagun Police Station, along with SI Vivek Linggi, ASI T. Moya, ASI T. Mosi, and Ct. T. Tokur, under the supervision of SDPO Naharlagun, Rishi Longdo.
One of the arrested individuals, Lokap Bagang, a 35-year-old resident of Chayangtajo, Seppa in East Kameng, was found to be involved in thefts at TRIHMS, Naharlagun. He allegedly targeted sick patients, stealing their money while they were in deep sleep during the early morning hours. He was arrested in connection with Naharlagun PS Case No. 35/25 u/s 305(a) BNS.
Another accused, Nikhil Barman, a 24-year-old resident of Cooch Behar, West Bengal, was involved in daytime burglaries. He reportedly entered homes with the intent to assault occupants using a lethal weapon, which was later recovered from his possession. His arrest was made in connection with Naharlagun PS Case No. 31/25 u/s 331(1)/331(3)/3(5) BNS.
The third accused, Tayu Taku, a 23-year-old resident of Michawa, Seppa in East Kameng, was a habitual offender wanted in multiple cases of motor vehicle theft, burglary, and housebreaking in Naharlagun (ICR). His modus operandi involved scouting for unattended houses, forcibly breaking doors, and committing theft during nighttime. He was arrested in connection with Naharlagun PS Case No. 29/25 u/s 305(a)/331(4) BNS.
Superintendent of Police, Naharlagun, Mihin Gambo, has urged citizens to refrain from purchasing second-hand goods such as vehicles, mobile phones, televisions, gas cylinders, and ornaments without proper verification, as they may be stolen property. He also reminded the public that receiving stolen goods is a punishable offense under the law.
The police has advised residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help prevent further crimes. Investigations are still ongoing as law enforcement continues its efforts to ensure the safety and security of the region.
