LONGDING, Aug 27:  The Longding District Students Union (LDSU) conducted an inspection of the Government Model Degree College in Kanubari, emphasizing the urgent need for quality construction and the timely commencement of the next academic session.
Nokphe Pansa, President of LDSU, speaking to the media during the inspection, highlighted the challenges faced by the students of Longding district due to the absence of higher education institutions. He stated that over 600 students are currently forced to travel to other districts to pursue higher studies, placing a significant financial strain on families, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The completion of the Government Model Degree College in Kanubari is expected to alleviate these burdens, allowing students to continue their education closer to home.
During the inspection, Pansa urged the engineers on site to ensure that proper quality standards are maintained throughout the construction process. He specifically called for the replacement of any substandard materials that have been used and emphasized the need to properly construct the protection walls, which were found to be of inadequate quality during the inspection.
Pansa also expressed concern over the delay in the construction of the college, which was initially scheduled for completion by December 2022. Despite the ongoing work, he appealed to the state government and local representatives of the district to expedite the process and ensure that the next academic session can begin without further delay.
