Itanagar, Oct 22: State level workshop on healthy village with special focus on substance abuse is being conducted by the State Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, SIRD & PR.
Addressing the participants Director, SIRD&PR, Habung Lampung suggested that Panchayat Raj members can be agents of transforming healthy village and important medium to fight substance abuse in their respective jurisdictions. While emphasizing that drug abuse is an emerging challenge in society, he suggested the need for collective effort of every stakeholder and urged not to work in isolation. He further informed that the aim of Localized Sustainable Development Goal (LSDG) is not only about physical wellbeing but includes both social and psychological wellbeing of community members.
The participants consisting of Panchayat Raj Members, Self Help Groups, community based organizations, NGOs etc are attending the training addressing various topics like, understanding substance abuse in Arunachal Pradesh, Demand Reduction Strategy, Supply Control Mechanism, Harm reduction approaches being imported by Resources persons like Aparna Das Sharma, DRG Cum Coordinator, Drug Abuse and NCPCR, Santosh Kumar Mandal and Ankush Banyal from NCB, Dr. Misso Yubey, Psychiatrist and faculties of SIRD&PR- Dr. Narayan Sahoo, Dr. Mihin Lali and Rodo Buishall be the resource persons of the programme.
