AALO, Oct 19: Deputy Commissioner West Siang, Penga Tato said that social stigma and taboos associated with Tuberculosis is a hurdle and creating awareness on this aspect is essential to get greater coverage under the tuberculosis elimination programme.
Tato said this while chairing the District TB Forum meeting convened by National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) West Siang today.
The DC further appealed the Panchayat leaders and HoDs to cooperate with the NTEP to eliminate TB by the year 2025 and for TB Mukt Panchayat.
Dr. Nyade Padu Bagra, District TB Officer presented the activities of NTEP and shared the challenges and solutions to move forward in line with 'end TB by the year 2025'. She appealed the ZPC of West Siang, Tumpe Ete to cooperate with the NTEP for TB Mukt Panchayat activities.
Dr. Dubom Bagra, DMO Aalo emphasized on earmarking the area where the TB patients are mostly populated. He also ensured full support to NTEP for supervision & monitoring of the TB patient.
DDSE West Siang also agreed to give full support to the NTEP West Siang for awareness programme in the schools of the district.
