ITANAGAR, Feb 23: Child Welfare Committee, Capital Complex in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS), organized skit on “child labour and impact of broken families on children” in different areas of Itanagar, Naharlagun and Nirjuli in presence of large number of people. The skit was executed by Bosco Youth Centre of Don Bosco College, Jullang under the supervision of faculties and supported by the Capital Complex district administration.
Under the initiative of Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner, Sandeep Kumar Singh, a three-day marriage registration programme was also organized by the Child Welfare Committee, Capital Complex, APWWS, Women’s Helpline and One Stop Centre at IG Park on the occasion of statehood day.
The Arunachal Pradesh Legal Services Authority also provided free legal aid and counselling to the public during the three day event. Free marriage registration forms were provided and advocates were present to guide the people in filling up the forms. Looking at positive response from the public, the two days mass registration programme was extended to one more day, informed APWWS General Secretary Kani Nada Maling.
Advocates also explained to the public about importance of marriage registration and procedure to be followed under the provision of Special Marriage Act 1954.
During the festival, Child Welfare Committee and Childline organised legal awareness on child related issues and documentary was screened on child labour, free and compulsory education for children under 14 years and corporal punishment at school and child abuse.
