Namsai, Apr 20: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Namsai District organised  a workshop on One Nation One Election at Namsai on Sunday.  
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein speaking on the occasion focused on key issues of national and local significance. The meeting saw enthusiastic participation from grassroots workers and senior party functionaries. During his address, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the importance of the “One Nation, One Election” initiative, describing it as a transformative step towards more efficient governance. He stated that simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies would significantly reduce the burden on administrative machinery, minimize election-related expenses, and ensure governance continuity without frequent disruptions. He called upon all party members to understand and support this vision, as it aligns with the broader goal of national integration and administrative effectiveness. 
Mein also underscored the importance of party discipline and unity, reminding workers that the strength of the party lies not just in leadership but in the collective effort, integrity, and dedication of its members at all levels. He reiterated that adherence to the party’s core principles and programmes is essential for sustained success.
Focusing on local governance, Chowna Mein urged all party workers to begin preparations for the upcoming Panchayat Elections in the state. He highlighted the critical role of the Panchayati Raj system in reinforcing democracy at the grassroots level. Stressing the need to identify strong and committed candidates, he encouraged workers to ensure that all government welfare schemes and development programmes reach even the remotest parts of the state. Importantly, the Deputy Chief Minister cautioned against factionalism within the party. He stated that supporting officially nominated party candidates is crucial, and any grouping or resentment after ticket denial sends a negative message. He called for a united front and committed action for the overall growth and development of the state and the party.
Tapir Gao, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), highlighted on several pressing issues of both national and state-level significance, underlining the government’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of Arunachal Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage.
Gao clarified that the ongoing investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into the National Herald case is court-monitored and not politically motivated. He informed that on April 15, 2025, the ED filed a chargesheet under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. The case involves the alleged misappropriation of over `2,000 crore worth of assets of Associated Journals Ltd., which were later transferred to Young Indian Pvt. Ltd. for merely `50 lakh. Gao highlighted that this case originates prior to the BJP government’s tenure, and strongly condemned the Congress party’s attempts to politicize the matter and distract the public from corruption allegations.
Expressing serious concerns over the administration of Waqf Board properties, Gao emphasized the need for greater transparency and public accountability in managing religious and charitable assets.
Focusing on state matters, Gao reiterated the importance of implementing the AFRA Act, in alignment with recent Hon’ble High Court directives. He clarified that while the Constitution guarantees freedom of religion, the AFRA Act provides an additional legal safeguard tailored to Arunachal Pradesh’s unique socio-cultural context. Gao stressed that the rules under the Act are currently being framed, and that proper awareness must be spread to counter misinformation, especially at the grassroots level. He reaffirmed that the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act is not against any faith but is intended to safeguard all religious practices and promote peaceful coexistence in the State.
Zingnu Namchoom, MLA from Namsai and State General Secretary, addressed party members on key national issues, placing special emphasis on the ‘One Nation, One Election’initiative. He highlighted the cost-effectiveness, administrative efficiency, and long-term governance benefits of a unified electoral framework. He urged party members to recognize the broader national interest in this initiative and to actively spread awareness about its benefits at the grassroots level.
Namchoom encouraged party karyakartas to initiate discussions on several important issues, including One Nation, One Election, National Herald case, Waqf Board , The Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 1978 (AFRA Act), The legacy and vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar,  He recommended that these topics be discussed widely in every polling booth in the State, particularly during the upcoming PM’s Mann Ki Baat program, to generate public understanding and participation, he added.
State Vice-President Junty Singpho, who attended the program as a resource person, shared an in-depth perspective on the One Nation, One Election proposal. She explained the rationale behind the idea, noting that holding simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies could bring about greater political stability and reduce the frequent disruption of governance caused by repeated polls.
Besides, District President Ningroo Miao also spoke on the occasion. The program was attended by ZPC Namsai  Nang Urmila Mangcheykhun, ZPMs, mandal presidents, party karyakartas.
