ITANAGAR, Oct 26: In a breakthrough, the State Investigation Cell (Vigilance) has arrested a former DDSE in the ongoing investigation pertaining to the illegal appointment of Primary Teachers and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) in Anjaw District. The case, registered under SIC (VIG) PS Case No. 04/2023, invokes sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The investigation was initiated on August 29, last, as an offshoot of a broader inquiry into illegal appointments of PGT in Longding District. During these investigations, startling evidence of similar irregularities came to light in Anjaw District, specifically within the District Deputy Director of School Education (DDSE) office.
As per the statement of SP-SIC Anant Mishra (IPS), after an extensive and meticulous inquiry, involving interrogations, thorough searches, and technical analysis, SIC (Vigilance) has successfully apprehended a key figure in the case. The arrested individual has been identified as Midak Riba, aged 60, who held the position of DDSE in Anjaw District at the time of the alleged offenses.
Earlier, SIC had also apprehended one Accountant and former DDSE Longding, Jomdo Lona in connection with the same matter.
