ITANAGAR, Oct 16: In a tragic turn of events, a devastating fire broke out in the Chimpu area of Itanagar, on Monday. This disastrous incident resulted in extensive destruction, as several houses were engulfed by the inferno.
As per eyewitnesses the fire probably began due to a electrical short circuit at the residence of one Nabam Shelly, which quickly spread to neighbouring homes. The situation took a dire turn when a gas cylinder exploded in the adjacent house of another person Gollo Alish Nabam, further fuelling the flames.
The incident unfolded in the early hours of 5:30 AM, catching residents by surprise and instilling a sense of panic throughout the neighbourhood. Reports from local sources indicate that the fire consumed approximately eight to nine houses, leaving their owners in a state of shock and despair as they witnessed their homes and possessions being devoured by the flames.
Adding to the distress, affected residents expressed frustration and raised concerns about the local fire brigade's response time, which they deemed as alarmingly slow. They noted that the police arrived on the scene before the fire brigade, but unfortunately, by then, extensive damage had already been done, resulting in significant losses of property, personal belongings, and financial assets.
Meanwhile, Fire brigade team of Itanagar Fire Station informed that, they have moved to the incident site as soon as they got the distress call and helped the residents to prevent the fire from spreading further.
