ITANAGAR, Oct 12:  A district level school safety training cum orientation program under the banner of Disaster Management was conducted on Thursday at Government Secondary School G-Sector Naharlagun. 
The main aim and purpose of the training was to generate awareness amongst teachers on how to make schools a safe and secure zone for students and to highlight their roles and responsibilities. 
DDMO Capital Itanagar Moromi Dodum Sonam,who was one of the resource persons highlighted the importance of preparing school Disaster Management Plan. She also highlighted the safety and precautionary measures to be adopted in the schools to avoid any kind of hazards.
Sub Fire Officer Naharlagun, K Amo presented a session on fire safety and demonstrated the uses of fire extinguishers.
Dr. Bhupen Milli, Sr. Consultant from Department of disaster management briefed on the concept of school safety and its importance. NDRF Team from 12th Battalion, Doimukh presented a detailed session on what to do before and after natural calamities. 
More than 100 teachers participated from various schools of Capital Itanagar and attended the programme along with URCCs and CRCCs. 
The programme was organised by the District Project Office (ISSE) Samagra Shiksha, District Mission under the guidance of S.T Zara, DDSE cum DPO.
