ITANAGAR, Dec 11: In a bid to boost tourism and foster community engagement, the scenic village of Kibithoo in Anjaw district recently played host to the 'Vibrant Village Border Run Safari.'
This unique event, organized by the Yuva Tourism Club in collaboration with Real Sports India of Kolkata, received sponsorship from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
The run, held in association with the state’s department of tourism, garnered support from various local entities, including the Anjaw district administration, district police, ITBP and Bahadur Bees (Punjab).
A total of 91 participants, spanning ages 12 to 56, including both boys and girls from the village, as well as runners from Tezu and Itanagar, took part in three distinct categories – 10 km, 5 km, and 2 km.
The event kicked off from the Kibithoo primary school and saw enthusiastic runners donning specially designed T-shirts. Each participant received a medal, while the victors in the 10 km and 5 km categories were honored with trophies and cash prizes.
The event not only showcased the breathtaking landscapes surrounding Kibithoo but also served as a means to connect the local community with the ongoing development initiatives under the Vibrant Village project by the Government of India.
Expressing their delight, the villagers conveyed a keen interest in making the Vibrant Village Border Run Safari an annual tradition, aspiring to attract an even larger crowd in the coming years.
The event, supported by both local and regional authorities, successfully blended sport, tourism, and community spirit, marking a significant step towards placing Kibithoo on the map as a vibrant and engaging tourist destination.
