PASIGHAT, Oct 2: Gandhi Jayanti, was celebrated today marking the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi in a befitting manner at Gandhi Chowk, Pasighat main market.
Local MLA Kaling Moyong and Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu felicitated the Crusaders of Cleanliness (Safai Karamcharis) of Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) for their dedicated efforts, tireless and unparalleled services in city cleanliness. All faith prayers, recitation of Bhajan “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram”, were also organized as part of the Gandhi Jayanti celebration.
Along with others, the Pasighat East MLA, DC, PMC Chief Councillor Okiam Moyong Borang, ADC (Hq), Oli Perme, CEO Pasighat Smart City Dr. Manjuli Komut, DDSE Odhuk Tabing, MEO (PMC) Pandov Perme also paid floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Government officials, teachers and students from various schools, members of Pasighat market association & NGOs and common masses also actively took part in the celebration with enthusiasm.
In his brief address on the occasion, MLA Moyong said that Gandhi ji’s message of cleanliness (Swachhta), unity and harmony among fellow Indians is 'guiding light for all of us.'
Flagged off by the DC Tayi Taggu, the District Administration in collaboration with the Pasighat Smart City Development Corp. Ltd. (PSCDCL), Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) & Swacch Siluk Abhiyan & Sports, Pasighat organized a Cyclothon spanning Silluk- Ngopok-Mebo-Raneghat today as part of Swachh Bharat Diwas.
Extensive celebrations were also held across Ruksin and Mebo subdivisions including all the Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) and schools and institutions. DIPRO, Pasighat
