ITANAGAR/JOTE, Dec 23: In a recent development, Union Minister for Earth Science, Kiren Rijiju, has assured to examine alleged malpractices in the construction of infrastructure and land-related issues at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jote.
While recognizing the autonomy of institutes like NIT, Rijiju emphasized his commitment to engaging with authorities, state government and local communities to address these concerns. He urged both locals and NIT to collaborate, refraining from actions that could hinder the growth of the community and the institution.
Despite acknowledging delays in infrastructure construction, Rijiju stated that funds are being released in accordance with established norms.
Further, in response to the recent assassination of former Congress MLA Yumsen Matey by militants in Tirap district, Rijiju conveyed the government's seriousness on the matter. He stated that, if necessary, more central forces would be deployed, and discussions with the state government would take place for potential Army operations. Rijiju affirmed a zero-tolerance policy against crime, promising strong action against those involved in such acts of violence.
Drawing on his experience as the former Union MoS Home, Rijiju emphasized his unwavering commitment to the safety and security of the people. He noted the challenge of apprehending militants who often flee to Myanmar after committing crimes, making the process of taking action more complex.
