ITANAGAR, Apr 1:  A day after the Vice Chairman of the Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) announced a Lok Sabha candidate for the upcoming election and expressed intentions to form a political party post-election, Chairman Techi Puru refuted any endorsement of a Lok Sabha candidate by the PAJSC.
Addressing the media at the Arunachal Press Club on Monday, Puru explicitly stated that PAJSC remains apolitical and does not endorse any candidate nor has any plan to enter into politics neither to form a political party under the banner of PAJSC. Instead, he urged all aspirants to focus on upcoming examinations rather than becoming involved in politics. He reiterated that PAJSC, comprising aspirants and well-wishers, is dedicated to combating the cash-for-job scam in the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and will continue to do so. However, he emphasized that PAJSC does not endorse any political moves or candidates.
“Any member who has an interest in politics can join the fray but on an individual level; PAJSC cannot be made a launch-pad for politics,” Puru said.
When asked about reported rifts among PAJSC members, Puru acknowledged the same and clarified that he had previously urged members to refrain from bringing politics into PAJSC activities.
Despite this, some members proceeded to declare a candidate under the guise of PAJSC sponsorship, he said.
On March 30, Vice Chairman PAJSC Tadak Nalo announced that the non political organisation will field Techi Rana as its official candidate for the Arunachal West Parliamentary Lok Sabha seat.
The PAJSC also announced that it will soon form a political party which will recruit the best leaders inclined toward issue-based politics.
Nalo said that the decision to jump into the political arena was not easy and they had to go through a series of meetings. He said that the committee believes that the issue raised by the PAJSC can only be met by political power. He also added that post-election, PAJSC will form a new political party.
He said that despite the passage of almost 2 years since the APPSC cash-for-job scam, there has been no development despite repeated assurance by the state government.
“Now to make a change, we had to change our approach. Lately, we believe that the change in a system can only happen being part of the system. Therefore, the PAJSC, despite being a non-political organisation, has declared to jump into politics,” he said.
