Doimukh, June 29: Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), the lone central university of Arunachal Pradesh, has been ranked 13th in the list of Central Universities released by the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) topping in the Northeast region. Its counterpart Mizoram University secured the 15th followed by Tezpur University and NEHU, Shillong at 16th & 18th positions among a list of 50 other central varsities in the country.
RGU which got recently assessed and accredited with NAAC “A” grade had again proved its mark in the field as a detailed look at the grading and scoring of Central Universities reveals that Rajiv Gandhi University has scored an impressive 972.24 marks in overall index score of IIRF. The Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) is a non-governmental organization that conducts extensive evaluations of educational institutions. The ranking covers surveys on areas like Academic Reputation, wherein the reputation of an institution is evaluated based on feedback from employers, educators, and researchers who are familiar with the institute's academic environment and quality of graduates. 
The Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University Prof. Saket Kushwaha congratulated the entire University fraternity and said that this is a testimony to the university’s pursuits to excel and fare better. 
As one of the premier quality higher education providers in the North-east, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) had yet again proved its academic prowess. The ranking provides insights into university performances across India, establishing standards for academic and research success. These rankings serve as a vital resource for students, educators, and policy makers, aiding in informed academic decisions. The VC further said that it is a watermark achievement, considering its location in the remote border state of Arunachal Pradesh with so many challenges. With this, now RGU will definitely participate in the other international rankings such as the QS World University Rankings and expressed optimism of RGU making its presence felt in international rankings also, keeping in view our emphasis that we put on employability and sustainability, the VC further added.
The Registrar Dr. N.T.Rikam, termed it as a milestone and further said that, “the university community attributes this achievement as an outcome of the persistent efforts of the “Team RGU” including its students, teachers, academic administrators and non-teaching fraternity for the improvement in teaching and research environment of the university leading to high-quality teaching, relevant and focused research of highest quality in the university. 
“This achievement has come in the backdrop of some other major achievements of the university and I hope and pray that RGU will further improve the performance in the coming years as well,” he said.
An elated Joint Registrar of RGU Dr. David Pertin, who is also a member of the University’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) divulged that, the inability to admit foreign students joining the varsity, due to RAP and PAP restrictions is a point of concern and said that he is not surprised by this ranking and said that the University’s patient and persistent toiling is paying off.
