KHONSA, Nov 1: A clouded leopard cub which was rescued from Lazu area of Tirap District was transported from Khonsa and handed over to authorities of the Biological Park (Itanagar Zoo), Itanagar by the Khonsa Forest Division.
The clouded leopard cub was rescued by Phawang Lowang, Member of APBRDA (Arunachal Pradesh Bamboo Resource Development Agency) and public leader of the locality from the Barap area of Lazu. As per report, a female clouded leopard had abandoned her cub which was stranded and trapped in a small mass of land in Barap river during heavy rain. Nearby villagers found the cub and informed Lowang who rescued and nurtured the cub for about two months till its full recovery.
Later he informed the forest department officials on October 20 last and accordingly the DFO, Khonsa took possession of the clouded leopard cub and made arrangements for its transportation and handed it over to the Biological Park (Itanagar Zoo) for its upkeep and rehabilitation.
