ITANAGAR, Dec 22: Thousands comprising students and the general public, joined the mass rally held against the assassination of former MLA Yumsen Matey, here from Akashdeep to Raj Bhavan. The protest rally was organized by the apex student body of the state, All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU).
Earlier, AAPSU, led by its president Tana Dozi Tara, submitted a representation to the Governor. Speaking to the media, Tara informed that the union has no issue with the NSCN fight for greater Nagaland or a sovereign country, but they should not interfere and kill innocent Arunachalees. "This is not the first time that people from the TCL area have been assassinated. Former MP Wangcha Rajkumar, former Minister Tirong Aboh, and many more are on the victim list," said President AAPSU.
While speaking about the memorandum, he stated AAPSU has sought immediate measures to bring peace and normalcy to the TCL Region. The AAPSU has taken serious note of the brutal killing of  Yumsen Matey, former MLA of the 56th Khonsa West Assembly constituency on December 16 last in Tirap, which has shocked the state, and also expressed concern for the safety and security of innocent people in the region.
The state and the central government, led by the BJP with an absolute majority, needs to demonstrate strong political will to resolve the turmoil in the TLC region once and for all. The incident of unabated killings, ransom demands, extortion, taxing government employees from their hard-earned salary by different insurgent groups, and exerting a parallel system of administration is not new in the TCL region, added the AAPSU President.
The union is also demanding a fast-track investigation through NIA on the barbaric killing of  former MLA Yumsen Matey. The government should also bring security forces (army), state police, and intelligence under the purview of the NIA or other agencies for their alleged failure for the safety and security of the people, the union said.
Further, we are also demanding the complete sealing of international borders with Myanmar. Initiate steps for the immediate scaling for civilian crossing, and economic blockade to counter infiltration to our soil. It is also a matter of national integrity and a breach of the security of our nation when anti-social groups from across the border come and inflict terror on our soil, Tara added.
APPSU also sought the intervention of the governor to deploy 3 Battalions of security forces to check and to counter cross border crime in each district.
