Itanagar, July 27: In order to oversee the status of various important developmental activities, Minister (Urban Affairs, Land Management & Civil Aviation), Balo Raja along with his Advisor MLA Techi Kaso, visited various sites in the capital region, where centrally sponsored schemes are being executed.
While visiting Hollongi, where an Echo-Park is being developed under the Smart City Mission, the duo were informed that the work could not take desired pace due to the restrictions for movements of trucks on the airport road, which badly affected the works of filling up the swampy area apart from other issues related to acquisition of land. Raja, directed the CEO(Smart City Mission) to take up the matter with the DC, Yupia and Airports Authority of India (AAI) for obtaining special permission for the same without affecting the free movement of passengers especially prior and after the scheduled periods of flights so as to ensure smooth sailing of the works in the State’s interest.
Earlier in the day, the Minister and his Advisor also visited Dapo-Yarlo, in the outskirts of the capital, where the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) is developing sites for solid waste management of the city. Mayor Tame Passang briefed them about the status of the works being executed there vis-à-vis its source of funding etc. During interaction, Raja informed that the government is actively considering for finding a permanent solution to the solid waste management of the cities, since a hygienic society can only ensure healthy citizens.
They also inspected the Septage Treatment Plant at Chimpu, which is in its advanced stage of completion and discussed with the IMC officials & the contractor who is executing the work. Raja also visited the IMC office and had a brief discussion with the Mayor and other officials.
