ITANAGAR, Jul 8: The Department of Women and Child Development (WCD) held a review meeting on all Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) at the Civil Secretariat, Itanagar. The meeting was attended by the Minister for Women and Child Development, Dasanglu Pul, and her Advisor MLA Tsering Lhamu. T. Director WCD, T.P. Loyi, presented an overview as well as orgainisational set up and the functions of the of the department. Detailed presentations were made by State Nodal Officers (SNOs) on various centrally sponsored scheme(CSS).
Short awareness videos were shown on crucial topics including illegal adoption, adoption procedures, POCSO Act, PMMVY and Poshan Abhiyaan.
The comprehensive review aimed to assess the progress of various women and child welfare schemes, address challenges, and strategize for improved implementation across Arunachal Pradesh. The meeting underscored the government's commitment to enhancing the effectiveness of centrally sponsored schemes for the benefit of women and children in the state.
In her speech, Minister Dasanglu Pul, expressed gratefulness to Chief Minister, Pema Khandu for having given her the chance to serve as a Minister for Women and Child Development, citing that it shows the CM’s commitment for the women of Arunachal Pradesh. She has lauded the department for the tireless effort in running the government policy and programs which have immensely helped women and child in life cycle-continuum basis.
Advisor to the Minister, Tsering Lhamu. T, said that women come from different circumstances and only an opportunity is needed for them to be empowered, citing her own example. She expressed her happiness in working with the WCD department. While praising the department for releasing comic books on POCSO Act, creating awareness videos on safety of women and child, she also advised that more awareness and sensisitization programmes need to be carried in the State especially in far flung districts. Also more efforts are needed to create awareness on the legislation, programme & policy of the government which may help everyone, the advisor added.
