Itanagar, Jan 25: National Tourism Day was celebrated in a befitting manner today at SFCI, Itanagar. Earlier, the Department of Tourism in collaboration with District administration, ICR had conducted Photography contest along with Tour Guide training programme with a special focus on Itanagar Tourism to promote ICR region as tourist destination to commemorate National Tourism Day 2024.
Deputy Commissioner,ICR Talo Potom was the chief guest of the day and he gave away the prize money and certificate to the winners of Photography contest and also distributed certificates to all the trainees who successfully completed the Tour Guide training.
As part of the event, a local cuisine competition and extempore speech were also organized and winners were felicitated with certificate on the day. Deputy Commissioner, ICR encouraged all the participants to convert their theory learning to practical use for self employment generation and livelihood. He further emphasized that government department hand holds youth to gain knowledge and skill by providing such trainings, however implementation of such skills lies on the youths. He further stated that in days to come Tourism sector in Arunachal will be one of the primary economy contributors in Arunachal’s growth trajectory. He added that Homestay may be run on community based for more fruitful result and asked all stakeholders to maintain local touch in terms of architectural design and cuisine.
In addition, he also suggested all the stakeholders of Tourism sector to bring improvement in hospitality so that Tourism could flourish in its full force.
Bengia Mrinal, special guest at the event also shared his personal experience of working in tourism sector for past two decades and he encouraged youths to choose quality over quantity while working in Tourism sector.
