SEIJOSA, Oct 25: A missing service revolver and ammunition from the 3rd IRBn headquarters in Monai Seijosa, sparked a high-priority police operation that led to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of the weapon.
According to reports, the theft was reported at 11 PM on October 21 last, leading to an FIR filing by the 3rd IRBn officials. Superintendent of Police Pakke Kessang Tasi Darang mobilized the Seijosa Police team, alerting counterparts across the Assam border to facilitate swift action.
A team led by SI Sang Thinley of Seijosa PS quickly identified and arrested three individuals suspected to be involved in the case. The accused have been identified as: Phuntso Dondup (30), Constable, 3rd IRBn , Haricharan Boro (31), Constable, 3rd IRBn and Md. Babul Ali (35), resident of Kekakuli, Sonitpur District, Assam
The investigation revealed that the missing 9 mm pistol had been concealed in bushes near Kekakuli Village in Sonitpur, Assam. The weapon was recovered after one of the accused led police to the location. Additionally, 11 live 9 mm rounds were found in Haricharan Boro’s rental house in Seijosa.
Authorities have expressed relief that the stolen firearm and ammunition have been successfully recovered, averting any potential danger. Investigators have further noted that the suspects are reported drug addicts, which has raised concerns about the motive and potential threat posed by the theft.
The police have confirmed that further investigations are ongoing to understand the circumstances leading up to the theft and any possible connections beyond the current suspects.
