Itanagar, Aug 27: In a significant breakthrough, the Itanagar police solved a cow theft case with the arrest of four accused.
The case came to light following a written FIR filed by one Tarh Kama, who reported that three cows were stolen and loaded onto a pickup truck at Jollang, Itanagar. Two of the suspects, Jaidul Islam and Asadul Alam, were apprehended on the spot by the complainant, while two others managed to flee.
The investigation led by Sub-Inspector Randhir Kumar Jha under the supervision of SDPO Itanagar Kengo Dirchi and Inspector K. Yangfo (Officer-in-Charge, Itanagar), swiftly moved into action. During the interrogation, the arrested suspects revealed that they had been involved in multiple cattle thefts over the past few months.
The police seized the stolen cattle and returned them to their rightful owners. Additionally, the Tata pickup truck used in the theft was confiscated. Further investigations led the police to a beef shop in Chimpu, Itanagar, operated by two suspects, Asadul and Mujahidul. The shop was found to be a front for their illegal activities, with the suspects regularly stealing cows from Jollang and surrounding areas.
In a coordinated operation, the absconding suspects, Mujahidul and Asadul Islam, were tracked down and arrested in Assam. They were subsequently brought back to Itanagar, where they confessed to their involvement in the thefts.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend any additional suspects involved in cattle thefts and to recover more stolen cattle, the Police stated in a release.
