BANDERDEWA, Jan 16: In a well-coordinated operation, Banderdewa Police arrested a suspected drug peddler following a high-speed chase on Wednesday. Acting on credible intelligence regarding drug trafficking, a special team was assembled by Inspector Kipa Hamak, Officer-in-Charge of Banderdewa Police Station. The team included Sub-Inspector Koj Tada and Constables T. Bomdom and R. Tsering, with the operation being supervised by Rishi Longdo, SDPO Naharlagun.
The suspect, identified as Nur Jamal (27) from Alisingia, Uriyumguri, under Bourghat Police Station in Sonitpur, Assam, attempted to escape on a Bajaj Avenger motorcycle (registration number AR01H7457). After a swift and determined pursuit, the police team intercepted the suspect at Jullang and took him into custody.
Upon conducting a body search, police recovered 10 vials of suspected heroin weighing approximately 12.70 grams, with an estimated market value of ₹30,000. A case was promptly registered under Banderdewa PS C/No. 04/2025 U/S 21(b) of the NDPS Act.
