Itanagar, May 14: The Capital Police arrested six more accused persons including three pimps and three sexual assailants and has rescued one more minor victim girl from a lodge at Zoo Road, Chimpu. This brings the total victims rescued to five, and total arrests to twenty-one in the sex trafficking case involving minor girls in the state capital.
Amongst the arrested accused, two people are uniformed personnel— one a Deputy Superintendent of Police and another a Constable.
Superintendent of Police-Itanagar, Rohit Rajbir Singh (IPS) informed that on 11 May last, Capital Police spread further technical and human inputs and identified the husband-wife duo who run a hotel by the name of "City Hotel " at Zoo Road Chimpu along with the manager of the hotel as another set of pimps who had pushed the rescued victim minor girls into flesh trade by arranging customers.
The police team also learned that the said accused people have also trafficked one more victim minor girl, and the said girl is also a victim of a child sex trafficking ring. Accordingly, a raid was conducted at the said hotel and Dulal Basumatary (52 years) was arrested from Udalguri, Assam who runs the hotel named City Hotel at Zoo Road, Chimpu . He is part of the prostitution ring and finds customers for the rescued victim girls, providing hotel rooms so that the girls could be sexually assaulted. He is also involved in trafficking another girl Miss F (victim) and forced her to be part of the ring.
Another accused Dipali Basumatary (44 years), wife of Dulal Basumatary has been also arrested.
The rescued minor victim girl from the said hotel is one Miss F who is 15 years of age and comes from a poor family belonging to the native village of Dulal. She was raised by Dulal and Dipali since a child and was forced into prostitution as soon as she reached adolescence. The girl has been shifted to a Shelter Home and is presently undergoing medical care, stated the SP in the press statement.
Further, the police team also identified two assailants who had recently sexually assaulted the rescued minor girl Miss F, and the two assailants were also arrested accordingly. Toi Bagra (35 years) Constable, 1st AAPBn, resides at Ganga Village Itanagar, Saddam Hussain (26 years), Mason by profession, originally from Dhubri, Assam presently resides at Lekhi Village, Nirjuli.
During the investigation another assailant, DySP Bulang Marik posted at 1st AAPBn, Jollang, Itanagar who had sexually assaulted the previously rescued minor victim girls was identified and arrested and is currently in police custody, stated Singh.
