ITANAGAR, Nov 3: The state police, on Friday arrested one Mohamad Rasidul Islam (23) and Phurpa Tashi Langla, and seized 230kg of Cannabis worth lakhs.
Speaking to reporters, Papumpare District SP, Taru Gusar said that a Doimukh police team following information received from reliable source successfully busted the drug racket being carried by the accused.
He said a police case in connection with the matter has been registered under PS Case No. 67/2023, dated 31st October 2023 U/S- 20(c) NDPS Act.
The SP added that the police received information that a Car bearing registration No AS 01 JC 2578 was coming from Kalaktang, from West Kameng district with a huge quantity of Cannabis to sell it in Itanagar Capital Region (ICR). Accordingly, a team of police from Doimukh Police Station intercepted the car at Hara Hapa near here.
“Subsequently, the team carried out frisking of the vehicle in the presence of the executive Magistrate and independent witnesses. While checking the vehicle, suspected Cannabis weighing 108.723 kg was recovered from the possession of Mohamad Rashidul Islam,” he said.
Therein the police seized the Cannabis along with the vehicle and arrested the alleged accused and also was produced him in Court and remanded him for seven days. 
During interrogation, the accused revealed his source from where he collected the Cannabis. Accordingly, a team of Police proceeded to Kalaktang and arrested Phurpa Tashi Langla, the main Cannabis supplier, added the SP.
“Cannabis weighing around 118 kg was also seized from the supplier,” he added.
