ITANAGAR, Oct 26: The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) has announced a four-day sit-in protest, demanding the state government to immediately address its 13-point demand relating to the APPSC cash-for-job scam.
Addressing mediapersons at the press club here today, PAJSC Vice Chairman Tadak Nalo said that following the direction of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the members of the committee met the Chief Secretary and discussed the matter. He said during the meeting with the CS, the committee minutely discussed their demands.
Nalo claimed that even the Chief Secretary admitted that the demands are not entirely addressed by the state government. Subsequently, the CS also assured to apprise the matter to the CM. This clearly indicates that the demands of the PAJSC are not being addressed, and the CM has been repeatedly misleading the public through the media, the committee alleged.
“The demands of the PAJSC were never addressed by the state government. It was the tactic of the state government to mislead the public and suppress the issue. Also, not granting permission to the committee for an indefinite dharna also indicates how desperate the state government is to curb the issue,” Nalo said.
The PAJSC said that besides the 13-point demand, it has recently submitted additional demands to the CM. The demands include construction of the Statue of Honesty for Gyamar Padang at 6-Kilo as a mark of respect to the late whistleblower.
“We also demanded revocation of the suspension order against PAJSC chairman Techi Puru. Despite being a government job holder, Puru fought for the rights of the public. His act was also acknowledged by the CM but unfortunately, he has been suspended in the down line,” Nalo said.
Also, the inputs provided by the committee in connection to the Arunachal Pradesh Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2023 should be incorporated and accordingly implemented at the earliest. Likewise, the state government should immediately reward the kith & Kin of Gyamar Padang, as assured before.
“We also want to send a clear message to the students that it’s not the PAJSC disrupting the APPSC from holding examinations or forming the commission. It is the commission which is still to work out comprehensive standard operating procedures for conducting exams,” Nalo added.
Terming the APPSC scam as "mass murder" of the future of the students, Nalo said " surprisingly only 10% of the scam has been exposed so far by the investigating agency. Therefore, the state government should ensure that all the culprits involved in the scam are punished."
