PASIGHAT, Sep 15: Noted Author & APLS President, Padmashree YD Thongchi released “Méru: Beacon of Light” the first Anthology published by APLS East Siang Unit (ESAPLS) with eclectic mix of poems, short stories, essays and articles in Adi, Hindi & English by young writers and well known authors, today here at the JNC Conference Hall.
Thongchi lauded the efforts by ESAPLS led by its President Ponung Ering Angu and Gen. Secy. Dr. Ing Perme to promote and nurture young writers of the state with the literary works reflecting the Arunachalee milieu and culture. He advised young writers to keep on honing their craft / writing techniques and read the works of different writers and genres adding that it’s through sweat, tears and discipline that great writers /sportsmen are produced. He hoped that readers will have an enriching experience through “Méru”.
Guest of Honour, Vice-Principal JNC, Dr. Leki Sitang, said that our folk stories and culture have been passed on through oral narratives and stressed on the role of literature for a vibrant society and in catching the imagination of readers.

The Book Launch event was attended by host of eminent writers including ES APLS Vice-President Group Captain Mohonto Panging Pao VM (Retd.), GS ESAPLS Dr. IngPerme faculty, JNC, Bodong Yirang (former Director of Elementary education, GoAP among others Executive members of APLS Central, Tokong Pertin (Retd. Director, Trade & Commerce, GoAP), Batem Pertin (Retd. Director of Research, GoAP), litterateurs Kaling Borang and Dr. Kaling Dai ( former Joint Director health services), HoD (English)JNC, S.K Sinha, HoD (Hindi) Dr. HN Pandey and students.
