PASIGHAT, Sep 14: In a remarkable manner, family and friends of a young man who died in a road mishap observed his birthday by distributing helmets for free to commuters while also highlighting road safety.
The birthday celebration was held at Riba Canteen Charali, of Pasighat, with the theme “wear your helmet, it saves life; Ride smart, wear a helmet, stay alive”.
During the campaign, family members along with friends and well wishers of late Sanju Tasing distributed more than 550 helmets to commuters passing through the highway without wearing one.
They also donated a closet to Seed Children’s Home also known as Child Care Institute, which is an orphanage, located in Yapgo Village, East Siang District.
Late Tasing was from Sika Tode Village of East Siang District and was born on 14th of September 1987, who tragically died in a highway mishap, on 3rd of September last, 2023.
Meanwhile talking to this daily, Nini Dupak a friend of late Sanju, conveyed to the public that “it won’t cost a fortune to buy a helmet, rather it will cost a fortune if you’re laying in ICU with severe head injury.”
Takop Yosung, the Officer in Charge of Traffic Police, Pasighat requested all the public to wear helmet and take care of their safety; and also don’t use cell phones while driving.”
