TEZU, Nov 15: Officials of the Director of Urban Local Bodies visited Tezu today to collect first hand information regarding wet waste, dry waste, SLF, dumpsite remediation, revenue generation and waste to wealth in the various sites of the district.
The team also visited recently inaugurated MRF Tezu which can handle and process 5 Metric Tonnes waste per day and aims at making Tezu a benchmark town in urban waste management and meeting the sustainable development goals and effective implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission.
DC Lohit Shashvat Saurabh, apprised the team on how the beautification of Tezu township is of utmost importance to curb the random urban growth of the town and to maintain its well planned structure.
The team further visited the convention centre and appreciated the District Administration for its quirky and unique installations using scrap and waste materials in the convention centre.
The team also discussed on issues of waste segregation and innovative ideas on “waste to wonder” projects were also discussed.
Er. Bapenlu Kri, UD&H Tezu highlighted the developmental activities undertaken by the UD&H department especially in the field of Township beautification and waste management.
