Itanagar, Apr 1: The State Foundation Day of the State of Odisha was celebrated at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar on 1st April. Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) and the First Lady of the State Anagha Parnaik along with the people of Odisha in the State participated in the programme.
The Governor greeted the people of Odisha on their State foundation day and conveyed the good wishes of the people of Arunachal Pradesh. He said that the celebration of Statehood days of other States is a very important integrating event, which opens doors for interaction with the people working in Arunachal Pradesh, knowing their achievements, challenges and suggestions for taking Arunachal Pradesh to greater heights of development and progress.
The Governor said that the people of Odisha have been important partners in the progress of Arunachal Pradesh. He conveyed gratitude to them and expressed his hope that the goodwill will continue to prevail and contribute in making ‘Viksit Arunachal’.
The Governor, while recalling the diverse history of Odisha said that Arunachal Pradesh and Odisha have many similarities as they are tribal States with many different tribes with their unique culture but at the same time upholding the spirit of unity in diversity. He said that both States are known for their rich cultural diversity, exotic arts and handicrafts. The people of Arunachal Pradesh take pride that the President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu is from a tribal community from Odisha, he said.
The participants presented traditional dances, including ‘Maelajada - Rasar Kali’, ‘Pancha Rasi Dalkhai’ and State song 'Bande Utkala Janani'.
Senior member of the Oria / Oriya community, Pradeep Kumar Behera highlighted the close association of the people of Odisha with local population and Raj Bhavan.
The Governor and the First Lady of the State hosted a high tea and interacted with the invitees and participants.
