ITANAGAR, Dec 12: In a landmark decision, the Cabinet of Arunachal Pradesh convened today, considering the recommendations of the Screening Committee for the selection of Chairman and member of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).
This decision comes in the wake of the judgment dated December 8, 2023, by the Gauhati High Court, Itanagar Permanent Bench, Yupia, in WP(C) No. 213(AP)12023 & WP(C) No. 223(AP)12023.
Following the Cabinet's endorsement, the Governor, in exercise of powers under the proviso to clause (1) of Article 316 of the Constitution of India, read with clause 4 of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission Regulation, 1988, has appointed Prof. Pradip Lingfa a Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering, North Eastern Regional Institute of Science &Technology as Chairman, APPSC along with Prof. Ashan Riddi Professor, Department of History Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills, Doimukh , Col. Koj Tari (Retd) and Rosy Taba former member of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights as Members of the Commission.
The appointees will hold office for a term of six years from the date of assuming office or until reaching the age of 62, as per the provisions of clause (2) of Article 316 of the Constitution of India.
The swearing-in ceremony, during which the Oath of office and the Oath of secrecy will be administered, is scheduled to take place on December 13 at Raj Bhavan.
