Ziro, Aug 24: The National Karate Gold medalist in senior category Para Wheelchair Kata Taru Richo (Bhai) was accorded a warm reception at his native Hija village under Lower Subansiri District here today.
​Richo had won the gold medal at the national championship held at Haryana recently.
​The Taru Kago Yalyang Career Guidance Forum, EARS, All Hija Sports Association, All Hija Employees Welfare association and the All Hija Pensioners Welfare Association accorded him a warm welcome and felicitated him along with his coach and escorts.
​Speaking on the occasion, Director Youth Affairs Ramesh Linggi lauded the achievement of Richo and said it was not only a proud moment for the District but for the whole state. ‘I must admire the hard work, patience and perseverance of Richo in bringing laurel for himself and the state. The Departments of Sports and Youth Affairs will ensure the national gold medalist receives the recognition and incentive due to him from the State Govt,’ said the Director.
​The Youth Affairs Director further said the achievement of winning gold medal at national platform by a sportsman from Ziro should inspire other sportsmen of the state to compete at state and national levels and bring laurels for themselves, their community and the state. ‘The day is not far away when Arunchal Pradesh would produce an Olympic medalist and we will urge the national selectors to nominate Richo to represent India at the next Olympic games in case his discipline his available,’ the Youth Affairs Director remarked. 
​The function was also attended by clan members and well-wishers of Taru-KagoYalyang clan. (DIPRO)
