AALO, Dec 24: National Consumer Day was celebrated by the department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs, Aalo in collaboration with the Paktu Ao Welfare Association at Gumin Kiin, in the West Siang district headquarters on Sunday.
In his welcome address, Jomba Kamgo Lobom, Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs gave a brief historical background of the day. He directed the traders who themselves are also consumers of various goods and services to abide by rules & regulations by not indulging in any unfair trade practice. He also conducted practical demonstration on various goods and services items like, Know your LPG, dispensing pumps, package commodities items and weight & measuring items.
Kento Tashi, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law and Karabi Dhingia, Assistant Professor,Faculty of Law attended the celebration as resource person and explained about the details of Consumer Right & Duties, Complain Constitution, how & where to file a complaint, procedure to file an appeal, relief available and penalty under Consumer protection Act/Rules.
Advocate Moji Bagra, President, All Ato Paktu Ao Welfare Society advised the upcoming generation to actively participate in such meaningful consumer awareness program. He requested the house present to avail the maximum benefit from the awareness program.
Mabi Taipodia Jini, i/c Deputy Commissioner, Aalo who attended as the chief guest emphasized on the need for organizing such awareness program in and around Aalo town. She also advised the traders not to sell any packaged items above the maximum retail price and follow good trade practices by putting their best effort for making Aalo town as a plastic free Zone.
The programme ended with vote of thanks by Jomgum Ete, President, Paktu Ao Youth Welfare Association.
