AALO, Aug 7: Red Ribbon Club NEFTU in association with NSS Unit of the University organised a Red Run Mini Marathon of 5km under the aegis of NACO, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The event aimed at creating awareness amongst the University's students, teaching and non teaching staff about HIV/AIDS and drug abuse.
The Vice Chancellor Dr. Tejum Padu, who flagged off the marathon spoke about the rapid increase of HIV /AIDS in the state and how the youth should play an important role in preventing the spread of the disease.
More than 80 volunteers along with teaching and non teaching staff took participate in the marathon.
Certificates were distributed by Dr. V. N Sharma the Pro VC of the University. He said the youth is the pillar of the nation and so they should remain fit to fight against drug menace and HIV/AIDS.
