PASIGHAT, June 22: The East Siang Police averted a major dacoity and arrested five former cadres of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) who were targeting a business in Pasighat indulging in high cash transactions.
East Siang Superintendent of Police, Dr. Sachin Kumar Singhal informed today that an input was received that an Assam based group including surrendered cadres of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) was hatching a conspiracy and ‘would be’ executing dacoity at one of the shops in the Pasighat market area, indulging in high cash transaction.
Subsequently on getting the input, under the direct supervision of SP Singhal, a team led by ASP Pasighat Pankaj Lamba, IPS including OC PS Pasighat Ige Lollen, SI Kuncha Tangha and others was formed and human intelligence and technical surveillance was mounted.
Overnight operation including multiple raids on 1st June led to apprehension of three surrendered cadres of NDFB from Pasighat namely William Basumatary S/o Dabaru BasumataryR/O Sonitpur (Assam), Basant Basumatary alias Ladum S/O LtDemu Basumatary, R/O Baksa (Assam) and RashmiBasumatary, S/O Chandra Basumatary, R/O Sonitpur (Assam). Further interrogation and disclosure statements revealed involvement of other individuals who have escaped from town in view of heavy police checking.
Singhal also informed that a team comprising of SI KunchaTangha, HC C Kumar, CT Deka and others proceeded to chase and subsequently in coordination with Assam police arrested two more persons namely Paresh Deka alias Haathi S/o Lt Shambhu Deka R/O Distt Baksa, Assam and Mrigen Rabha, S/o Krishan Kant Rabha R/O Distt Baksa, Assam were apprehended from Hatigaon area of Guwahati, Assam.
According to the SP, total six mobile phones and one car bearing number AS25BC5130 alleged to be used to execute the dacoity have been recovered. A case vide PS PSGT 77/24 u/s 399/120B has been registered in Pasighat Police Station. Further investigation is underway to arrest remaining alleged accused and other material evidences.
