TEZU, May 26: In an exemplary initiative of innovation and sustainability, the Lohit District Administration has transformed an old District Library & Museum campus into a vibrant tourist hub using recycled materials.
 Under the visionary leadership of Shashvat Saurabh (IAS), Deputy Commissioner of Lohit District, the newly inaugurated Community Convention Centre in Tezu is set to become a dynamic platform fostering curiosity, creativity, and innovation, particularly among the youth, while simultaneously boosting regional tourism.
“The Community Convention Centre in Tezu represents a significant leap forward in nurturing talent, fostering creativity, and inspiring innovation. It empowers the youth to become agents of positive change within their communities and beyond. Additionally, the Centre holds immense potential to enhance the tourism experience in the region by showcasing its rich cultural heritage and providing various entertainment, educational, and creative opportunities, thereby fostering connections between tourists and the local community,” said Shashvat Saurabh while speaking to the media.
He further informed that, the  Community Convention Centre is meticulously designed with various components to engage visitors and serve multiple purposes. The DC added that the district Museum (Featuring display halls, a conservation hall) , an open-air theatre,Garden Amphitheatre, Exhibition Hall-cum-Photo Gallery, Outdoor Art and Design Museum created by utilizing recycled materials like plastic, metal, and demolition waste, offers a unique artistic approach while addressing environmental concerns.
Apart from that, the CCC also has Music Wall and Play House, Interactive spaces for creative expression,Food Stalls and Sales Counters, Innovation and Creativity Zones, Spaces dedicated to fostering new ideas, a Souvenir Shop and Café.
Shashvat Saurabh further emphasized that the Centre will act as a catalyst for innovative thinking and push the boundaries of artistic expression. The Outdoor Art and Design Museum, in particular, stands out for its creative reuse of waste materials, promoting environmental awareness and sustainability.
The Centre also aims to engage the community through various initiatives, including the Promotion of Environmental Awareness, Creative Reuse of Materials, Inspiration for Innovation, Community Engagement and Participation and others.
The Community Convention Centre is poised to host a diverse range of events catering to different interests and demographics, including cultural festivals, art exhibitions, book fairs, literature festivals, music concerts, theatrical performances, film screenings, educational workshops, innovation challenges, trade fairs, and community events.
Management of the Centre’s activities will be overseen by a newly registered society, with the Deputy Commissioner of Lohit serving as the ex-officio Chairperson. This society, comprising relevant stakeholders like the Cultural and Literary Society of Mishmi (CALSOM) , has issued detailed general guidelines to ensure optimal use of the Centre’s spaces, assets, infrastructure, and facilities.
