ITANAGAR, Jul 19: Arun Amrit, a locally manufactured bio-fertilizer, was showcased during Eighth State Legislative Assembly Session by the Department of Agriculture here today.
The “Arun Amrit” as part of “Vocal for Local” initiative, is being manufactured in Ziro, Lower Subansiri District since the year 2022. The production was funded under RKVY-RAFTAAR scheme of Govt of India which aims at increasing farmer’s income and as sustainable approach in farming system.
The bio-fertilizer production unit in Ziro has installed capacity of 500 MT annually that meets the state’s requirement and has potential for supplying to neighbouring state as well. The sustainable farming is the need of hour and aids in doing away with the chemical fertilizers which has adverse effects on quality of soil in the long run. The production of Arun Amrit is a step towards organic farming in the state.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Speaker Tesam Pongte and host of ministers and MLAs visited the stall and showed immense interest in this local product.
The Chief Minister appreciated and congratulated the department for successful commissioning of the bio-fertilizer and asked them to continue quality production for benefits of the farmers. The packets of bio-fertilizer and instructional manual were distributed to the visitors.
The promotional stall of “Arun Amrit” was initiated by Minister for Agriculture & Allied Gabriel D. Wangsu with the District Administration, Ziro and the department of Agriculture.
