NIRJULI, July 18: The department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Dairy Development has tremendous scopes to work upon and leverage the opportunities in addressing the economic challenges of the people, said Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu while addressing officers at a review meeting here today.
Advocating for preparation of road map and vision documents specifying the area of focus in order to encourage livestock farming activities, he urged the officers to identify potential progressive farmers who could don the role of job provider in future.
The Minister for Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Dairy Development, also appealed the officers to take up development of green fodder in the districts as the livestock cannot thrive without feed and fodder.
The minister opined that corpus fund, may be required to revamp the department farms and fields, which can be used during exigencies and for revenue earning since all activities of the department are seasonal and time bound.
“From day one of my joining as Minister, I had set agendas for the department, however without your cooperation I shall be rendered handicapped, and that shall harm the interest of the state,” Wangsu maintained and assured the officers to look into their career related issues.
Earlier, MLA-cum-advisor to the Minister, Talem Taboh, in his brief speech, advised the officers to keep good rapport with the local leaders, and emphasized that DVOs should attend the developmental meetings in the districts.
Secretary, AHV&DD Hage Tari emphasized for robust data and proper maintenance of the records in the department and urged to focus on prevention, treatment and immunization of livestock.
The review meeting discussed various issues pertaining to animal husbandry sector in Arunachal Pradesh and the Minister was briefed about the status of various CSS and state plan schemes of the last five years as well as constraints faced by the officers through power point presentations.
