ITANAGAR, Nov 24: Leparada district has become the first district of the State to achieve the milestone of ODF (Plus) status. This distinction signifies the significant progress made by the district in enhancing sanitation and solid liquid waste management, ultimately improving the overall quality of life for its residents. All the   Gram Panchayats of 82 Villages of the district have been declared as Open Defecation Free Plus in various categories such as Aspiring-74 village, Rising category and seven villages in Model category.
It is pertinent to mention that Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen)-Ph-II, was launched by Govt. of India, with key objective to sustain the ODF status of villages and to improve the level of cleanliness in rural area through Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) activities, making all villages ODF Plus.
The journey of Leparada District to ODF Plus status is a result of dedicated effort made by the District Administration and Department of PHE & WS and the active participation of the public. The achievements will certainly lead to a better quality of life for its residents, contributing to the overall development of the district.
