Roing, Dec 18: A legal awareness campaign on ‘Gender Based Violence’ was conducted at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Bolung by Dankyon Ane Banggo CLF of Roing Block. Representatives from WCD, DCPU, PRI members, ABK Women Wing, Gaon Buras, officials of BMMU Roing (ArSRLM) and SHG members were present at the programme.
The programme was conducted to spread awareness on various forms of violence -- physical, emotional and sexual against all kinds of genders. A Gender pledge was taken by all present.
Danggap Perme Tayeng, President of Dakyon Ane Banggo CLF shared about the objective to create awareness about Gender Based Violence and its prevention.
Nekuk Pertin (Block Mission Manager), ArSRLM Roing stated that violence doesn’t occur only with women but also with girl child, men and transgenders. Types of violence should be identified and one should have the courage to speak up, she added.
Ms. Ishaya from WCD department shared about the preventive measures and legal remedies for violence against women and children.
Gaon Bura Anggong Pertin, Rampok Yirang, Ammon Pertin, ABK women wing Abul Pertin Tayeng and PRIs present also spoke on the day. They extended their support to the SHGs for conducting such a meaningful event.
