ITANAGAR, Jun 10: In a significant development, Member of Parliament Kiren Rijiju has been appointed as the Union Minister for Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs in the current BJP-led NDA government. This appointment marks another chapter in Rijiju's extensive ministerial career, showcasing his continued dedication to public service.
Rijiju's previous roles in the Union Cabinet have provided him with a wealth of experience and expertise. He most recently served as the Cabinet Minister for Earth Sciences and Food Processing Industries from 2023 until June 2024. Before this, his tenure included serving as the Minister of State for Home Affairs from 2014 to 2019, Minister of State for Minority Affairs from 2019 to 2021, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Sports and Youth Affairs from 2019 to 2021, and the Law Minister from 2021 to 2023.
Rijiju's appointment to the Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs portfolios underscores his track record of advocating for minority rights and his commitment to upholding democratic principles. MP from Arunachal West Kiren Rijiju ,along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and more than 60 Cabinet Ministers including Minister of States, took oath for the cabinet Minister at Rashtrapati Bhawan on June 9 last.
