Khonsa, Aug 28: The Khonsa Post Office organised ‘Dak Chaupal’ on Wednesday to raise awareness about various schemes of the India Post and its benefits.
In his keynote address, Chowang Wangsa, Postmaster, Khonsa Post Office gave detail information on various schemes of the Postal Department which include Mail Services, Postal Saving Banks, Insurance, Passports, Aadhar and many citizen centric services with focus on bringing government services at the doorsteps. He informed that eight new Branch Post Offices were created recently in the rural areas of Tirap to provide mails, financial & insurance services to the rural dwellers. He also requested the public to be alert to avoid any cyber fraud in the banking sectors.
Ms. Anuradha Singh, Branch In-charge IPPB (India Post Payment Bank) gave detail of financial services, insurance services, DBT based accounts for students, senior citizen & women & MGNEGA workers provided by the IPPB through Postman & Gramin Dak Sevak in rural areas.
In the program, many people took on spot advantage of many financial services and opened Sukanya Samridhi Accounts, Mahila Samman Saving Certificate & other POSB accounts. The special guests of the program distributed passbooks to the beneficiaries of Sukanya Samridhi Accounts & Mahila Samman Saving Certificate.
